Went to the Gallery sprint at the Google plex in Mountain View California.
I want to thank Don and his wife Mary Ann that were gracious enough to let me stay at their place for the few days I was there.
Fryfrog is another Gallery support guy that has recently set up some new hardware for the gallery project.
G3 is going to be a cool product. It will not satisfy everybody, but will be a cool product that will rock!
We can’t take pictures inside Google but we did anyway. It was great that they sponsored us, supplying breakfast, lunch and the snacks was great.
The sad news was that Jesse has left the project. His antics will be missed.
On the way back, I went into San Fransisco for some souvenirs for the kids and myself. I got to see The Greatest Sailboat ever docked at one of the piers. The Maltese Falcon:

Hope to see G3 and the gang again.

I was considering buying a shutter release for my Canon Rebel XT. The cost was a bit more than I was willing to pay, so a bit of research on the Internet I was going to build a home brew version of the shutter release. I found a few interesting sites on the Internet on how to build your own. On further surfing I found a wireless version from Hong Kong on ebay. Less than $15 via paypal and it showed up in a little over a week in the post. I am satisfied with it and some photos from a recent Thanks Giving get together at Wendy’s place in Mundare.
It plugs into the remote control connector on the side of the camera. Turn both the camera, remote and receiver and you are good to go.
The shutter button can be pressed halfway or all the way.
-You can activate autofocus, release shutter, activate continuous drive mode or keep the shutter open for bulb photography as well.

Installed a Sling box at work today. It is a device that streams home A/V to any broadband-connected Mac, Windows PC, Windows Mobile, or Palm Treo 700p device in the world.
Some administrators wanted to gain access to the settop box for seeing if the new billing system will still allow for proper channel mapping , pay per view, etc. They are in a different time zone and wanted access when people are not available.
It went well and is very easy to set up. It is a cool device as now I can verify that channels are operating in the headend without having to go to the headend.
I am also able to watch channels that are available in that town that are not available where I live. Video streaming has come a long way.

Went to Jasper for the labor day long weekend. Stayed at the Chateau Jasper. It is a nice hotel and the pool was welcome for the kids, and the hot tub was great after our white water rafting trip.
I believe that the kids liked the rafting trip as much as I did and will enjoy another trip when the weather warms up some time next spring or summer.
We saw some wild animals and some wonderful scenery. Hope to visit again this winter and possibly go snowboarding or skiing at Marmot basin.
