Where is mine?

By floridave | June 21, 2007

Since January 23, 2007, a new American law requires everyone entering the United States BY AIR to have a valid passport. There has been lots of complaints about Canadians needing a passport to travel to the US & Americans traveling to Canada. Canadian passport fiasco bears stamp of Ottawa’s incompetence

handed out fortune cookies to hundreds of hungry and frustrated passport seekers lined up outside its offices. The cookies should have been stuffed with the warning: “Avoid travel in 2007.”

100_1170.JPG100_1173.JPGI applied for Andrew, Malisa and myself all at the same time. The wait at the passport office in Edmonton’s Canada Place was long but it did move. Less than three hours from start to finish. One of my photos needed redoing due the smudge on it from the ink the photographer must use on the back. I did not have to wait in the cue over again. All done in a few hours. Then to wait….

To my surprise Andrew and Malisa’s passport arrived in less than 2 weeks! Some have suggested that they deliver it in regular mail not requiring a signature. This along with some pressure about stolen passports and identity theft they are now requiring a signature to get the passports from the postman. Now lets hope that mine shows up before GalleryCon2007 in San Francisco, CA
